Berngrün , also Berngersgerute , is a desert near Gefrees , a town in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth .

Berngrün was about 900 m east of the village center of Kornbach , in a valley towards Haidlas at 650  m above sea level. NN . It was first mentioned in 1317 as "Berngersgerute" in the Henneberg fiefdom index. In 1346 Abbot Franz Kübel and the convent of the Waldsassen monastery renounced the village of Perngersgrun in favor of the von Hirschberg family on the Rudolfstein . The burgraves of Nuremberg , who had come into possession of the Rudolfstein in the meantime, finally also acquired Berngrün in 1360 under burgrave Albrecht . After that the village was no longer mentioned in a document. In the land register of the six offices in 1499, the name Berngrün only served as a description of the location, and in 1787 the name can only be found in field names. The field names Obere and Untere Berngrün still exist today. The valley in question was afforested in the upper areas, otherwise it is used for agriculture.
