Bernhard Gerhard Bergmeyer (born June 22, 1897 in Ibbenbüren ; † March 2, 1987 in Löningen ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

Bergmeyer, who was a Roman Catholic , studied law and political science in Bonn after graduating from high school . In 1921 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD . From 1922 to 1948 he was the full-time head of business associations and also chief executive of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for south-eastern Westphalia . On May 1, 1937, he joined the NSDAP .

In 1949 he was appointed professor of economics at the American University of Notre Dame , but returned to Germany in 1951 to take over the management of Honselwerke AG in Meschede .

From 1953 to 1961 Bergmeyer, who joined the CDU in 1953, was a member of the German Bundestag .
