Bernhard Fischer-Wasels
Bernhard Fischer-Wasels (born January 25, 1877 in Atsch , † December 23, 1941 in Frankfurt am Main ), born Bernhard Fischer and since 1926 Fischer-Wasels , was a German pathologist .
After studying medicine in Strasbourg, Munich and Berlin and obtaining his doctorate in Bonn in 1900, Fischer-Wasels completed his training in pathology in Bonn under Karl Köster , and later under Hugo Ribbert . In 1903 he qualified as a professor in pathology. From 1914 to 1941 Fischer-Wasels was Professor of General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy at the University of Frankfurt and from 1908 to 1941 director of the Senckenberg Pathological Institute in Frankfurt. In 1930/31 he was rector of the University of Frankfurt. He was regarded as a leading tumor researcher , and especially as the discoverer of petrochemical carcinogenesis .
The pathologist Philipp Schwartz is one of his students .
