Bernhard Gauer
Bernhard Gauer (born May 19, 1882 in St. Barbara near Trier ; † April 26, 1955 in Cologne-Lindenthal ) was a German painter and mosaic artist .
Gauer studied with Eduard von Gebhardt and Carl von Marr at the Munich Academy . Later he continued his education in Italy. He settled in Düsseldorf, where he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten and, after the end of World War II, chairman of the association of Düsseldorf artists .
Gauer created paintings, glass paintings and mosaics for several churches, such as the Lutwinus Church in Mettlach and the Antonius Church in Düsseldorf-Friedrichstadt . Gauer created the large choir mosaic for the Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Aachen) in 1914 and later, from 1921 to 1925, the depiction of the Cross of Jesus Christ in the war memorial chapel .
