Bernhard Heinrich Burckhardt von Westerholt zu Westerholt and Alst (* 1657 in the Alst house ; † February 13, 1708 in Westerholt ) was the master of the von Westerholt family .

Life

Origin and family

Bernhard Heinrich Burckhardt was born as the son of the married couple Hermann Otto von Westerholt zu Westerholt and Alst and Anna Elisabeth Sybilla von Westerholt zu Westerholt. He married Henrika Johanna Christiane von Aschebrock zu Malenburg (1656–1725) in Münster. She was the heir to Adolf Heinrich von Aschebrock zu Malenburg and Sybilla von Brabeck zu Brabeck, who was married to his father for the second time. From the marriage (marriage speech on September 8, 1681) the children Ferdinand Otto (* 1683, married to Maria Agnes von Ketteler zu Sythen) and Johannes Matthias Engelbert (* 1685, Canon of Hildesheim, Münster (Westphalia) and Halberstadt, electoral Cologne secretary Council) emerged.

Professional background

Bernhard Heinrich Burckhardt began studying in Salzburg in 1677 and took over the family estates on April 13th of that year. He became the prince-bishop's privy councilor . The noble Malenburg estate, inherited from his wife, was sold to the Teutonic Order (Ballei Westfalen) in 1692 . Bernhard Heinrich died at the age of 50. The widow had the Chapel of Seven Sorrows built in his memory .
