Bernhard II of Saxony-Lauenburg († July 16, 1463 ) was a Duke of Saxony-Lauenburg from the Ascanians .

Life

Bernhard was a son of Duke Erich IV of Saxony-Lauenburg (1354-1412) from his marriage to Sophia († 1416), daughter of Duke Magnus II of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . He succeeded his brother Erich V. in 1436 as Duke of Saxony-Lauenburg. His other brother, Albrecht von Sachsen-Lauenburg (1384–1421), was a canon of Münster .

Bernhard accepted the title of Arch-Marshal of the Holy Roman Empire .

On his deathbed he instructed his son to keep the streets clean and the cities in peace, since they were superior to him.

Bernhard married Adelheid († after 1445) on February 2, 1429 , daughter of Duke Bogislaw VIII of Pomerania , with whom he had the following children:
