Bernhard Jacobi

Bernhard August Jacobi (born April 26, 1801 in Eutin , † January 26, 1843 in Petershagen ) was a German Protestant clergyman and President of  the Westphalian Provincial Synod of the  Evangelical Church of Prussia .

Life

Origin and family

Bernhard Jacobi was born the son of the doctor Maximilian Jacobi (son of the philosopher Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi ) and his wife Anna Claudius (daughter of the poet Matthias Claudius ).

On August 31, 1826, he married Cornelia Nicolovius (1803–1833), a daughter of the Prussian ministerial official Georg Heinrich Ludwig Nicolovius and his wife Luise Schlosser. After her death, he married Paula Sasse (1815–1863, pastor's daughter) on September 29, 1834. This marriage resulted in four children.

Career and work

After attending grammar schools in Salzburg , Düsseldorf and Munich, Bernhard took his Abitur here in 1819 and then studied theology in Bonn and Berlin . Before he completed the two theological exams, he was appointed tutor of the von der Lippe family from May 1824 . He was born on December 11, 1825 ordained and performed with the beginning of 1826 for the position of divisional chaplain in Cologne. He remained in this office until his inauguration as pastor in Petershagen on July 4, 1830. His election as President of the Westphalian Provincial Synod fell on September 28, 1841. Bernhard remained in both offices until his death.

Honor

On October 15, 1842, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bonn
