Bernhard Kaißer

Bernhard Kaißer (born January 11, 1834 in Wäschenbeuren , † April 17, 1918 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) was a Württemberg teacher and author.

Life

The son of a cooper first attended elementary school in his hometown before he embarked on the career of elementary school teacher at the state Catholic teachers' college in Schwäbisch Gmünd . In 1853, Kaißer passed his final exam with top marks, but was initially unable to get a "permanent" position. For example, he temporarily hired himself as a private tutor in Heidenheim , a teaching assistant in Wäschenbeuren or as a substitute teacher throughout Württemberg.

In 1860 he was given a permanent position as a "second teacher" at the Schwäbisch Hall prison and in 1864 moved to Hohenstadt as a "permanent teacher" .

In 1874 Kaißer was transferred to Schwäbisch Gmünd and in 1877 head of the practice school. In 1885 he was given the teaching position for grammar, literature and history at the teachers' college.

Bernhard Kaißer retired in 1902. He had been married to Magdalene Walter († 1915) since 1864 and had four children with her, but only two of them survived early childhood.

As head of the seminar training school in Schwäbisch Gmünd, he published numerous writings on the methodology and didactics of elementary school teaching and the history of the Württemberg Catholic elementary school system. In 1900 he was appointed professor.

Kaißer also published several books on the history of Gmünd and its surroundings. It recorded the Count Adelmann archive in Hohenstadt. He was also an author and co-editor at the Magazin für Pädagogik. Catholic magazine for popular education and instruction , an organ of conservative Catholic clergy and teachers.

Honors

For his work on the magazine for pedagogy , Pope Leo XIII. 1891 the silver Pope portrait medal .

Pope Pius X awarded Kaißer the Cross of Honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in 1904 .

As early as 1902, the Württemberg state honored him with the award of the Order of Frederick in the 2nd level of the knight class.

The Prof.-Kaißer-Strasse between Siedlungsstrasse and Rechbergstrasse in Wäschenbeuren also reminds of Kaißer .
