Bernhard Lang (theologian)

Bernhard Lang (born July 12, 1946 in Stuttgart ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian . He should not be confused with the Protestant theologian Bernhard Lang (* 1936) from Stuttgart.

Life

Lang was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD at the University of Tübingen . 1977 followed the habilitation at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1977 to 1982 he was professor in Tübingen and from 1982 to 1985 professor at the University of Mainz . From 1985 until his retirement in 2011 he was professor for the Old Testament at the University of Paderborn .

Lang held visiting professorships in 1982 in Philadelphia , in 1991 at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, in 1992/1993 at the Sorbonne , and in 1999/2003 at the University of St. Andrews .

In 2008 he received an honorary doctorate from Aarhus University in Denmark. In 2011 Lang signed the memorandum Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening .
