Although the links contactors already in his first pro season six times for the franchise from Vancouver was on the ice for a breakthrough in any he succeeded his NHL stations. By 1990 he had only 23 NHL games, scoring one goal and four assists . Later, like most of the time before, it was only used by various farm teams in the NHL clubs. Stevens most important stations in the lower leagues during this time were the Fredericton Express , the Springfield Indians , the Newmarket Saints and the Binghamton Rangers from the AHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Cleveland Lumberjacks from the IHL .

For the 1997/98 season , the Canadian moved to Germany in the DEL to the Schwenninger Wild Wings . In his first season he played 50 games for the Black Forests, but left them at the end of the season in the direction of the master Adler Mannheim . In 1999 the Adler became German champions for the third time in a row, for Stevens himself it was the first championship. The Canadian played a total of four seasons in Mannheim and was German champion again in 2001 before moving to the Hamburg Freezers in 2002 . After a year in the Hanseatic city, the Canadian signed a contract with ERC Ingolstadt , where he ended his career after the 2003/04 season.

Mike is the younger brother of Scott Stevens , who played 1,635 NHL games in his playing days and was, among other things, captain of the New Jersey Devils .
