Anton Grabner-Haider

Anton Grabner-Haider (born May 19, 1940 in Pöllau , Styria ) is an Austrian philosopher , cultural scientist , author , cultural journalist and professor of religious philosophy at the University of Graz .

Life

Anton Grabner-Haider studied Catholic and Protestant theology in Graz, Tübingen, Bonn, Münster and Vienna. He then worked as a Catholic priest for four years. After laicization , marriage and exclusion from the theological faculty, Grabner-Haider studied philosophy and completed his habilitation in philosophy of religion at the University of Graz in 1976, where he has been teaching religious philosophy, cultural philosophy and intercultural philosophy since 1983 as a titled professor ( private lecturer ) .

In addition to his academic work, he is involved in adult education and has been a lecturer on cultural-historical and religious-scientific topics at the Austrian Urania for Styria for decades.

In addition, he is significantly active in the organization and as a lecturer at the summer academy Stift Rein ( summer academy Graz-Rein since 2014 ) and the conferences of the Association for Cultural History as well as the "border discussions between science and religion".

Grabner-Haider also heads the “Critical Philosophy Working Group” in Graz and is a board member of the Graz Association for Practical Philosophy . He is also involved in the Global Ethic Initiative in Vienna . He was involved in the planning of the “House of Cultures” series and the “Intercultural City Festival 2014” in Graz.

Grabner-Haider is the author of more than 40 books that have been translated into nine languages.
