Bernhard Maier (District Administrator)

Bernhard Maier (* 1945 ) is a German politician. He was mayor of Renningen and district administrator in the Boeblingen district .

Life

Bernhard Maier comes from Malmsheim , which was later incorporated into Renningen. After graduating from high school in Weil der Stadt , he embarked on a higher administrative career. After working in the Leonberg district office and in the then still independent municipality of Höfingen , he became first alderman of the city of Renningen in 1972 . After the local mayor Gottfried Bauer resigned due to illness, Maier took over the business and was elected mayor in 1974; he held this office for 26 years.

In 2000 he was unanimously elected district administrator of the Boeblingen district and held this office until 2008. He campaigned in particular for the establishment of the Southwest Clinic Association and the construction of the S60 S-Bahn . From 1979 to 2000 Maier was a member of the district council of the Boeblingen district and from 1984 to 2000 chairman of the parliamentary group of free voters . In addition, from 1990 he was 1st deputy chairman of the district council.

To this day Maier is a member of the regional assembly of the Stuttgart region . In 1994 he was elected deputy chairman of the transport committee. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association .

Private

Bernhard Maier is married and has children.
