Bernhard Naber
Bernhard Naber OSB (* July 5, 1934 in Großmotten ; † January 27, 2018 in Altenburg ) was a Benedictine and abbot of the Altenburg Benedictine Abbey .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1953, Bernhard Naber joined the Altenburg Benedictine Abbey in the Waldviertel . He made his profession on August 31, 1957 . He received on 11 July 1958 by the bishop of St. Pölten , Franz Žak , the ordination . He served as pastor in Altenburg from 1994 and in Strögen from 1997.
In 1978 he was elected Abbot of Altenburg by the convent of the monastery. In 1989 and 2001 he was confirmed in this office. He organized numerous special exhibitions in Altenburg. The humanitarian action in Latvia was of particular concern to him. On August 31, 2005, he resigned his position.

- 1992: Silver Commander's Cross of Honor for Services to the Federal State of Lower Austria
- 2000: Order of three stars in gold from the Republic of Latvia
- Medal for services to monument protection in Austria
- 2005: Golden Commander's Cross of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria
- 2005: Honorary citizenship of the Altenburg community
