Bernhard Rodewald

Bernhard Rodewald (born September 6, 1806 in Herzberg am Harz , † June 17, 1874 in Göttingen ) was a German administrative officer and parliamentarian.

Life

Bernhard Rodewald studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1823 he became a member of the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . After graduation and the doctorate to Dr. jur. he entered the civil service of the Kingdom of Hanover . In 1839 he took over the management of the Radolfshausen office as an assessor . In 1853 he was appointed bailiff . In 1858 he was appointed bailiff of the Duderstadt district , and in 1859 of the Gieboldehausen district in the Landdrostei Hildesheim. After the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia, he remained in office and was appointed district chief in 1868. He held the office until his death in 1874.

From 1867 to 1873 Rodewald sat as a member of the Hanover 19 constituency (Osterode) in the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1867 to November 1872 he belonged to the faction of the Conservative Party and then to the faction of the New Conservative Party.

In June 1874 Rodewald was arrested because of financial irregularities in his treasury. A few days later, on June 17, 1874 he committed in Göttingen suicide .
