Bernhard Friedrich Wilhelm Rogge (born October 22, 1831 in Groß Tinz , † August 9, 1919 in Scharbeutz ) was a German Protestant theologian and court preacher .

Life

Bernhard Friedrich Wilhelm Rogge was born in Groß Tinz in the Liegnitz district in Silesia in 1831 . Rogge was the fifth son and eleventh child of pastor Wilhelm Rogge (1790–1870) and his wife Auguste nee. Wolfram (1799-1869). The Prussian Field Marshal Albrecht von Roon was his brother-in-law.

After initial home tuition by his father, Rogge attended the Pforta State School from 1843 , which he graduated from high school in 1850. With the professional goal of being a senior teacher, he then studied philosophy and philology in Halle . Due to a duel in Halle, Rogge moved to Bonn in 1851 , where he also began studying theology and graduated in 1854. From 1854 to 1856 Rogge completed his vicariate in Vallendar and was immediately elected pastor of the Lutheran parish of Stolberg near Aachen and ordained there in the same year . He also married the pastor's daughter Anna Thielen in 1856. Supported by his father-in-law, Field Provost Peter Thielen , Rogge was subsequently appointed field chaplain of the Koblenz garrison.

On August 18, 1862 appointed him later Kaiser Wilhelm I to the Potsdam court and Guard Corps -Divisionsprediger. In this capacity, Rogge took part in the battles of 1866 and the French campaign of 1870/1871 for the I. Guard Infantry Division . When Rogge was unable to succeed his father-in-law as military provost, he took military retirement in 1889 and was immediately appointed civilian court and garrison preacher.

In 1906 Rogge retired, became an honorary citizen of Potsdam and died in 1919 in Scharbeutz near Lübeck.

The Rogges publications were mostly created on anniversaries and secular celebrations and are written in popular science with a clear partisanship for Prussia and its rulers.

family

Rogge was married to Anna, née Thielen (born October 17, 1836 in Düsseldorf , † March 24, 1898 in Potsdam ), whose father Peter Thielen worked as a military chaplain and field provost. The couple had their son Friedrich Rogge , who later became district administrator in the Tondern district .
