Bernhard Schömann

Bernhard Schömann (* 12. September 1946 in Landshut , † 29. May 2015 ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and emeritus provost of St. Martin in Landshut.

Life

Growing up in Landshut, Schömann studied philosophy and Catholic theology. In 1974 he was ordained a priest by Julius Cardinal Döpfner . After his chaplaincy, from 1979 to 1983 he was the spiritual director of the youth association of the Catholic Young Congregation in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising , and from 1981 to 1986 diocesan youth pastor. From 1986 to 1993 he was pastor of St. Georg in Taufkirchen . He then took over the post of provost (at the same time head of the parish and the monastery chapter) of St. Martin in Landshut until 2012 . From 2004 he became head of the parish association St. Martin - Hl. Blut and thus also parish administrator of Hl. Blut. From 2007 to 2013 there was also the task of parish administrator of St. Jodok . After retiring, he was spiritual director of the St. Josef Home in Munich-Haidhausen. He died on May 29, 2015 in Munich and was buried in the provost's crypt in St. Martin in Landshut. Friedrich Cardinal Wetter directed the Requiem .
