Bernhard Schlegel

Bernhard Schlegel (born March 25, 1913 in Berlin-Südende ; † December 24, 1987 in Wiesbaden ) was a German internist.

Life

Bernhard Schlegel graduated from high school in Berlin in 1931. He then studied at the universities of Berlin and Bonn , then Berlin and finally Marburg medicine . In 1932 he became a member of the Corps Normannia Berlin . In the same year he joined the Corps Rhenania Bonn . In 1936 he passed the state examination. In 1937 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He took part in the Second World War as a medical officer in the reserve. Until 1958 he worked scientifically at the University of Marburg, where he completed his habilitation and in 1953 was appointed associate professor for internal medicine.

Schlegel was appointed chief physician of the Medical Clinic I of the Wiesbaden Municipal Hospitals in 1959. Since 1966 he was also director of the Wiesbaden municipal hospitals. From 1960 to 1984 he was permanent secretary of the German Society for Internal Medicine . In this role he was in charge of the annual internists' congresses in Wiesbaden and was the editor of the negotiations of the German Society for Internal Medicine on the annual congresses from 1961 to 1984. He was a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Society for Rheumatology .
