Bernhard Schmidt (singer)
Bernhard Schmidt ( March 15, 1825 in Dragun - December 17, 1892 in Weimar ) was a German opera singer ( bass ) and stage actor .
Life
Schmidt received artistic training from singing teacher Elsner in Berlin and appeared as a singer for the first time on March 15, 1848 at the Hamburg City Theater. Then he was engaged in Bremen, Rostock, Danzig, Königsberg, Cologne, Braunschweig and Breslau. He was both a singer (bassist) and an actor (character actor). At the Weimar Court Theater he was heard in outstanding roles (including "Bartolo" in Don Giovanni , "Figaro" in Figaro's wedding ). Schmidt also worked as a teacher at the Grand Ducal Orchestra School there.
From 1853 he was married to the singer Louise Kellberg , his daughter was the opera singer Marie Basta .
