Bernhard Schneider (historian)

Bernhard Schneider (born July 9, 1958 in Zurich ) is a Swiss historian and journalist .

Life

He completed his studies in history, German literature and philosophy at the University of Zurich in 1983 with a thesis on the Zurich guild revolution of 1336 under the leadership of Rudolf Brun , which he placed in a European context. He worked as a freelance journalist, publicist and historian, and headed the SRG project “Everyday life in Switzerland since 1300”. From 1991 to 2001 he was in the program management DRS 1, today Radio SRF 1 , responsible for the word broadcasts. In 2001 he left DRS 1 and founded the communications agency Schneider Communications AG, which he has been heading ever since. From 2006 to 2014 he was President of the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the WFJB Housing Foundation for Younger Disabled People since 2009 and has been a board member of the Swiss Association for Crisis Communication since 2016

Initially, he published his books on behalf of municipalities, then with Chronos Verlag and, since 2009, with his own publisher, Schneider Communications Ottenbach.
