Bernhard Termühlen

Bernhard Termühlen (born June 3, 1955 in Münster ) is a German entrepreneur . The doctor of civil engineering was a long-time member of the Executive Board of MLP AG . Today Termühlen, along with other companies, also purchases agricultural land at home and abroad.

Life

Bernhard Termühlen was born on June 3, 1955 in Münster, the second son of a building contractor. After graduating from high school, he studied civil engineering and industrial engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen from 1974 and was awarded a Dr. Ing. PhD . From 1982 to 1984 Termühlen worked as an assistant to the management of the Heitkamp construction group before starting his career as an MLP consultant in Hamburg in 1985. Termühlen left the Heidelberg company at the end of 2003. Since then he has been active in various industries as an entrepreneur at home and abroad.

MLP

Bernhard Termühlen joined the Heidelberg company MLP in 1985 as a customer advisor for the Hamburg office. The following year he took over the management of the office and in 1988 was appointed to the management board of the Heidelberg company, which he became chairman in 1999. Under the leadership of Termühlen, the company expanded and became Europe's leading independent financial and asset advisor for academics with offices in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Spain. Between 1990 and 1998 MLP was named “Company of the Year” five times by Manager-Magazin and the University of Kiel. MLP was listed in the MDAX from 1997 to 2010 and in the DAX from 2001 to 2003 .

In 2002, MLP aroused public interest following allegations of incorrect accounting by Börse Online magazine . At the end of October 2003 Termühlen resigned from the post of CEO of MLP AG. The magazine Börse Online and the protection association of capital investors accused MLP AG of falsifying accounts . The Mannheim public prosecutor's office started investigations against Termühlen and two other managers of the company and brought charges. MLP submitted several reports from scientists and financial experts who rejected the allegation. The proceedings were discontinued in 2007 by the Mannheim District Court due to legal concerns and a disproportion between the expected punishment and the long duration of the proceedings against payment of a requirement of 100,000 euros, as other courts have only imposed fines in comparable cases.

Entrepreneurial and other activities

Since 2004 Termühlen has been involved in agriculture, forestry and renewable energies in Germany and other European countries. He is also co-owner and chairman of the advisory board of the ferry company TT-Line . He has been involved in the financial services provider Mayflower Capital AG since 2008 and in FORMAXX AG since 2013. He is chairman of the supervisory board of both companies.

Bernhard Termühlen has been a long-standing member of the advisory board of Barmenia Insurance in Wuppertal and a member of the entrepreneurial advisory board of the venture capital company eCapital AG based in Münster.

He is also the founding curator and deputy chairman of the support foundation of the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center. Since 2015 he has been running the Termühlen Foundation Mensch und Natur , which advocates harmony between man and nature, economy and ecology.
