Bernhard Vollrad Dietrich von Oldenburg (born January 19, 1744 in Knorrendorf (Mecklenburg); † July 6, 1805 in Warsaw ) was a royal Prussian officer, most recently Major General and Chief of Infantry Regiment No. 31 .

His parents were the royal Danish lieutenant Christoph von Oldenburg (* January 4, 1694; † August 22, 1763) - heir to Jänkendorf - and his wife Anna Magarethe von Zeppelin (* February 19, 1703; † August 5, 1757).

Military career

On April 4, 1760 he became a private corporal in the Fusilier Regiment No. 47 (Rohr), a little later on September 20, 1760 he became an ensign. During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles in Berlin and Demmin . He was wounded during the siege of Kolberg. On May 28, 1763 he was Second Lieutenant in Regiment No. 47 and on August 3, 1768 Premier Lieutenant. On August 5, 1775 he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 51 (Krokow). There he became staff captain on September 22, 1773. He fought in the War of the Bavarian Succession and became a captain and company commander on December 6, 1778. On March 5, 1786 he was then major and on February 13, 1792 he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 55 (Holwede). There he became lieutenant colonel on January 11, 1793. In 1794/1795 he took part in the Polish war and was involved in the capture of Warsaw. He received the Pour le Mérite for his bravery during the battles for Warsaw from August 23 to August 26, 1794 . On January 13, 1795 he also became a colonel. On May 20, 1800 he was appointed major general and at the end of the month on May 31, 1800 he was appointed head of Infantry Regiment No. 31. He died unmarried on July 6, 1805 in Warsaw and was buried in the local evangelical cemetery.
