Bernhard Wilhelm Schuler
Bernhard Wilhelm Schuler (pseudonym: Alberto ; born August 14, 1850 in Zweibrücken , Pfalz, † November 12, 1922 in Munich ) was a banker, publisher and writer.
origin
His parents were the cloth merchant Augustin Schuler (1818–1875) and Katharina. Some of his brothers later became Indian missionaries in North and South America and the sister became the mother of Hermann Anschütz-Kaempfe .
Life
Bernhard attended the trade school in Löwen and Zweibrücken, Belgium, as well as the grammar school in Mainz. He then studied philosophy and history at the University of Innsbruck. Wilhelm Molitor , his godfather, placed him as a trainee at a bookseller.
For the Speyer book printer and dealer Ferdinand Kleeberger he opened the first Catholic bookshop in Zweibrücken in 1872, which he bought himself five years later and sold it again six years later.
With his brother Oscar († 1914) he founded a lottery business for church building and charities. In 1881 they moved to Munich, where they managed the publishing house and the A. & B. Schuler banking house . Oscar's son, Maximilian Schuler , was born in Zweibrücken in 1882 and later worked for Anschütz-Kaempfe.
In 1901/02 he had his Villa Felsenheim , designed by architect Baierle, built by Heilmann & Littmann , but sold it the next year.
After the death of his brother, he gave up the bank. The lottery business was taken over by the managing director Georg Aubele and later transferred to the South German class lottery . He trained as a priest, was ordained in early 1921 and taught as a religion teacher in Munich.
family
With his wife Mathilde Rüdiger († 1917) he had two sons and five daughters, including Tilde (1890–1977) who married the doctor Paul Martini in 1914 .
In November 1921 he married the young Kunigunde Meyer.
