Bernhard Zimniok

Bernhard Zimniok (born June 21, 1953 in Schnaittenbach ) is a German politician of the alternative for Germany . He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019 .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as a radio and television technician and completing his secondary education, Zimniok studied communications engineering and political science as a minor at the University of the Federal Armed Forces . He served in the armed forces for 15 years and was most recently a lieutenant colonel in the airborne division .

After his professional career in the German Armed Forces, he worked as Legation Councilor 1st class at the German Embassy in Damascus and then for four years at the German Embassy in Islamabad and as Director Security on the Board of Directors of ISOI. Zimniok has served as a security advisor in the Middle East and Africa .

He joined the Identity and Democracy faction there together with the other AfD MPs . Zimniok is a member of the Development Committee for his group . He is also a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs .

His core topics are the so-called “Islamization of Germany”, development, refugee and migration policy as well as internal and external security.

Private

Zimniok lives in Munich , is married and has a grown son.
