Bernsroda is a deserted village in the district of the hamlet Hirschroda the town Dornburg-Camburg in Saale-Holzland in Thuringia .

In the hallway between Dornburg , Hirschroda and Würchhausen the deserted village is located. It lies on the edge of the Kastental valley east of the Hirschroda district. An information board was set up by the district council at a source border.

Surname

On the one hand there is the theory that Bernsroda developed from Bornsroda because there were two wells nearby. Another derivation could come from the name Bernhard. There are parallels with the Bernharsrode mentioned in Orlamünde, which could possibly also apply to this Bernsroda as the original form. The oldest references are to the name "Pernsrode", which could refer to the short form of "Bernhardsrode".

There is no historical evidence in which the place is mentioned. The desolate place can only be proven through historical and current evidence of the field name "Bernsroda". Until the 16th century there was a separate corridor, which was then divided between the villages of Hirschroda, Würchhausen and Dornburg.
