Würchhausen is a district of the municipality of Wichmar between Jena and Camburg in Thuringia .

The Würchhausen location consists of the main and ancillary buildings of an estate and is located in a bend in the river on the left bank of the Saale opposite the main town of Wichmar, both districts are connected by a bridge. The Naumburg - Camburg - Jena line, which opened in 1874, was built through the borough of Würchhausen . The Saale cycle path also runs through the district .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document on November 27, 1181. The place belonged to the Wettin office of Camburg , which was due to several divisions in the course of its existence under the sovereignty of various Albertine and Ernestine duchies . In 1826 Würchhausen came as part of the Camburg exclave from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen . From 1922 to 1939 Würchhausen belonged to the Camburg district department .

When the former manor , which is still recognizable today , cannot be determined exactly at the moment. It is likely that the appearance of the Münch family in the 15th century is related to this. The much older castle of the Lords of Würchhausen is no longer recognizable today and can only be proven by an old map and ceramics. The Käfernburg taverns, mentioned in the 14th century, are also connected to this castle. The manor was sold by the Münch family in the 19th century. After the First World War it was managed by the family, A. Beßler used 140 hectares, G. Beßler 126 hectares. After the Second World War, the property was expropriated and given to an LPG for management.

In terms of church, Würchhausen has belonged to Münchengosserstädt since the Reformation . Before the Reformation there was also a parish church dedicated to St. George. Wichmar still has its own church today and was its own parish for a long time. Today Würchhausen and Wichmar belong to the parish of Dorndorf . In the old manor house there is still a structural detail of a late medieval house chapel, which is privately owned.
