Bert Bates

Bert Bates (born August 18, 1907 in Walthamstow , London , † April 23, 1976 in Barnet , London) was a British film editor .

Life

Bates began his work as an editor in the early 1930s. He was very productive during that decade, working with directors such as Monty Banks and Norman Walker .

In the 1940s, his work intensity decreased - most likely due to the war. In 1949 he worked for Alfred Hitchcock in the film Sklavin des Herzens . From the 1950s to 1973, almost without exception, he was involved in a film once a year.

A director Bates worked with several times was Guy Hamilton . In 1971 both were involved in the James Bond film Diamond Fever , followed two years later by Life and Let Die , which was also Bates' last film production.
