Albert Orian "Bert" Corbeau (born February 9, 1894 in Penetanguishene , Ontario ; † September 2, 1942 ) was a professional Canadian ice hockey player and coach who worked for the Montréal Canadiens , Hamilton Tigers from 1913 to 1929, among others and Toronto St. Patricks played in the National Hockey League .

Career

Bert Corbeau began his career as a hockey player with the amateur team of the Halifax Crescents, for which he was active until 1914. He then received a contract with the Montréal Canadiens , for which he made his professional hockey debut in the 1914/15 season when he scored a goal in 18 games for the team from Québec in the National Hockey Association and was a template. With the Canadiens, the defender won the prestigious Stanley Cup for the first and only time in his career the following season . In the summer of 1922, the Canadian left Montréal, which had played in the newly formed National Hockey League since 1917 , and switched to their league rivals Hamilton Tigers , which he left after just one year to play for the Toronto St. Patricks until 1927 . From 1927 to 1929, the right-shooter was in the Canadian Professional Hockey League with the Toronto Falcons and London Panthers on the ice before he then ended his career as a player.

Shortly after the start of the 1928/29 season, Corbeau took over as head coach of the London Panthers in Canpro, but left them again at the end of the season. From 1939 to 1942, the former NHL player coached the Atlantic City Seagulls in the Eastern Hockey League , with whom he became champions in the 1940/41 season. Following the 1941/42 season, the Canadian died at the age of 48.
