Berta Bindtner

Berta Bindtner (born July 20, 1889 in Klein-Mariazell ; † February 8, 1977 in Vienna / Währing ) was an Austrian graphic artist , etcher and painter.

Berta Bindtner was born as the second daughter of the Viennese notary, writer and chairman of the Adalbert Stifter Society Josef Bindtner and his wife Bertha Maria, née Weise.

She completed an apprenticeship at the Höhere Graphische Lehranstalt in Vienna , where she later also taught. Although she also produced oil paintings , her specialty was finely crafted graphics with thin pen and ink . For financial reasons, Bindtner focused on commercial art after World War II , which sold well. Her works can be found in the Albertina Collection , the Währinger District Museum and the Künstlerhaus Wien . She was represented at the exhibitions of the Künstlerhaus in 1917, the Association of Visual Artists Vienna in 1927, the Secession in 1928, and the Lower Austrian State Art Exhibition in 1936.
