Berta Amalie Thiersch , married Berta Amalie Schmidtlein , pseudonym Walter Bergh , (born June 14, 1888 in Munich , † February 7, 1984 in Cologne ) was a German author .

Life

Berta Thiersch was born on June 14, 1888, as one of eight children in Munich. Her father was the architect and painter Friedrich von Thiersch (in turn son of the theologian Heinrich Thiersch and grandson of the philologist Friedrich von Thiersch ); her mother was Auguste Thiersch, b. Eibler (born October 31, 1866 in Lindau, † October 22, 1948 in Marktschellenberg ); the bookbinder Frieda Thiersch was one of her sisters. After attending school from 1894 to 1913 and assisting her father's architectural office, she began training as a middle-class librarian (1914 to 1916, Royal Library in Berlin ). After graduation, she headed the library at the commercial college in Munich. On February 11, 1920 she married Karl Friedrich Schmidtlein (born August 9, 1887 in Berlin, † 1953 in Marktschellenberg, grandson of Friedrich Hammacher ). The couple had three children. Berta Thiersch lived in Munich, Berlin, Marktschellenberg and Cologne.
