The Bertelsmann BKK is a company health insurance , based in Gütersloh .

history

On July 1, 1957, the BKK Mohn & Co GmbH began operating as a health insurance company . It was possible for employees of Bertelsmann's technical operations to join . Bertelsmann Verlag was founded on January 1, 1960 under the name BKK C. Bertelsmann Verlag for employees in administration and other commercial operations. In 1974 these two health insurance companies merged to form BKK Bertelsmann AG.

Founded in 1991, the BKK Reinhard Mohn GmbH and BKK Graphischer Großbetrieb Pößneck were merged into the BKK Bertelsmann AG in 1992. In 1999 the name was changed to BKK Bertelsmann. In the following years the name was changed again, the name that is valid today was created: Bertelsmann BKK.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the general contribution rates have been standardized by the legislature. The additional contribution rate levied by Bertelsmann BKK is 1.1% from January 1, 2019 (GKV average 0.9%), and 1.25 percent since 2020.
