Life

Bertha Zillessen came from a pastor's family and was the daughter of the Protestant-Reformed pastor, publisher and publisher of the teachers' newspaper Friedrich Zillessen (1837-1915). The family lived in Berlin since 1887.

After an often interrupted apprenticeship as a photographer, she moved to Bautzen with her friend Marga Karow in 1907 and opened her own photo studio and the Bertha Zillessen Bautzen publishing house . At first she lived mainly from taking portraits in private homes. She became known through her collaboration with homeland security associations . In her publishing house she published postcards of the Saxon Homeland Security and German Heimatbilder , which ensured that her works were widely distributed, especially in Saxony . She also produced a series of postcards for the Pomeranian Homeland Security.

The Bautzen City Museum has an extensive collection of their recordings.
