Bertha from Bayer
Bertha von Bayer (married Bertha [Berta] Winterberg) (born September 27, 1841 in Munich ; † August 12, 1909 in Heidelberg ) was a German painter who worked in Karlsruhe and preferred to make portraits.
Life
Bertha was the daughter of the architectural painter Gustav August von Bayer and the Joséphine Marie, née von Lamey (1810-1884), and like her sister Clothilde (1840-1908; she became a nun) was born in Munich, where her father was at the art academy studied and then worked as a painter.
Bertha received her artistic foundations from her father and (presumably) from a local portrait painter. In the exhibitions of the time she was largely represented with portraits. She was married to the private scholar Konstantin Winterberg (* 1841 in Korbach, Waldeck) and lived with him first in Karlsruhe, later in Heidelberg, where she died at the age of 68.
