Bertha von Grab

Bertha Edle von Grab (born June 21, 1840 in Prague , Austrian Empire , † October 18, 1907 there ) was an Austrian landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Von Grab, the daughter of a judiciary, first studied landscape painting with Max Haushofer in Prague, after having been taught painting by Charlotte Piepenhagen (1821–1902), daughter of August Piepenhagen . In 1872 she went to Düsseldorf , where she continued to perfect herself in private lessons with Carl Jungheim . She settled permanently in Düsseldorf and went on study trips to German, Austrian, Bohemian and Moravian landscapes. She was regularly represented at major German art exhibitions. In Düsseldorf she lived at Immermannstrasse 12 in 1889.
