Berthold Nordmann

Berthold Nordmann (born April 22, 1926 in Essen in the Oldenburger Münsterland ; † February 4, 2013 ) was a German football player .

career

He went to Bonn to study , where he joined the Bonn FV . At the same time, he was also active in the university selection, with which he was three times university master.

In 1950 the striker came to 1. FC Köln , who had been promoted to the Oberliga West a year earlier . Together with goalkeeper Frans de Munck , Martin Hirche and Josef Röhrig , Berthold Nordmann made his billy goat debut on the first match day of the 1950/51 season under the then player- coach Hennes Weisweiler . In his first league season he immediately became a regular and played 29 of 30 championship matches. With nine goals, he was ranked fourth in the team's internal scorer list behind Willi Bars , Franz Alexius and Hans Schäfer .

Nevertheless, he took a break in 1951 to devote himself more intensively to his studies. As a newly graduated economist, he went back to the 1952/1953 season in the contract team of 1. FC Cologne, with whom he took part in the finals of the German championship for the first time as West German runner-up. In the season 1953/54 the West German championship title followed and the renewed participation in the finals, in addition Nordmann reached the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart with the billy goats . Stuttgart won 1-0 after extra time. After eight years in which he played 154 competitive games and scored 64 goals, he ended his active career.

He lived in Munich until his death .
