Bertil Andersson (soccer player, 1928)

Bertil "Smen" Andersson (born January 2, 1928 in Halmstad ; † January 5, 2008 ) was a Swedish table tennis and soccer player .

Career

Andersson moved up in the season 1946/47 in the squad of the incoming competition team of IS Halmia in the Allsvenskan and came under coach Gilbert Richmond to two games during the season. In the summer of 1947 he moved within Halmstad to local rivals Halmstads BK . Under coach Václav Simon he was a regular player straight away and played all 22 games of the season alongside Sture Roslund , Kaj Borglin and Hans Åkerlund . Despite his three goals this season and the debut of the later national player Sylve Bengtsson in the course of the season, the team ended the season 1947/48 on a relegation zone. He then returned to IS Halmia, until the club was relegated from the top Swedish league two years later, he played in 27 league games, scoring two goals. At the club's centenary in 2007, he was included in the best team in IS Halmia's history.

In addition to his football career, Andersson was active as a table tennis player for the Halmstad board tennis club , with which he also played for the Swedish championship title.

In 2008 Andersson passed away shortly after his 80th birthday. He is the son of the Swedish playwright Ivar Andersson .
