Karl Bertil Qvist (born October 21, 1920 in Vaasa ; † May 27, 1991 ) was a Finnish mathematician and astronomer.

Qvist studied mathematics, astronomy and physics at the University of Helsinki with a degree in mathematics in 1945. After that, he was assistant for astronomy until 1954. It was in 1951 when Gustaf Järnefelt at the University of Helsinki in astronomy doctorate (On the integration of Stellar Models in Radiative Equilibrium) He was from 1954 a lecturer in mathematics at the Åbo Akademi and was there from 1962 Professor of Applied Mathematics. In 1975 he became Vice Rector there. In 1983 he retired.

He dealt with theoretical astrophysics, starting with his dissertation on star models. Together with Paul Kustaanheimo , he wrote articles on general relativity and geometry. After 1962 he mainly dealt with stochastics. The Qvist theorem comes from him .
