Bertlich is a district of Herten in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Recklinghausen in the northern Ruhr area .
The place is located on the state road L 502 in the northwestern area of the urban area of Herten, directly adjacent to the urban area of Marl in the north and the urban area of Gelsenkirchen in the west.
Bertlich was part of the Polsum community until 1974 . It has belonged to Herten since 1975.
