The Berufsbildungswerk München (BBW München) is a vocational training facility with a focus on hearing and language for initial vocational training or retraining of people with a hearing impairment , speech impairment or other communication disorders . It was founded in 1952 and is located in Munich , in the Bogenhausen district in the Johanneskirchen district , Musenbergstrasse 30–32 .

Currently (2015) a total of 15 different training companies , a vocational school for special needs education , a dormitory and specialist service support are united under the umbrella of the Munich Vocational Training Center . The BBW Munich is supported by the Upper Bavaria district , the housing sector and cooperation partner is the Bavarian State Association for the Welfare of the Hearing Impaired . V. (BLWG).

history

In 1901, the Association for the Promotion of the Deaf and Mute was founded in Munich and entered in the register of associations in 1904. In the era of National Socialism , the club between 1933 and 1945 was used by the Nazis forced into a corresponding organization NS incorporated. 1945–1950 the association was re-established, two years later the establishment of a vocational training facility for the deaf began as a vocational school for the deaf in a house on Haydnstrasse in Munich. On April 1, 1958, the district of Upper Bavaria took over the sponsorship of the vocational school.

In 1972 the horticultural training company was founded in Frontenhausen near Dingolfing , which has since been managed by the cooperation partner Bayerischer Landesverband für die Wohlfahrt Gehörgeschädigte e. V. (BLWG) is operated. In the same year the facility was converted into the Munich vocational training center for the hearing and speech impaired . In 1977 the vocational training center moved to its current location in the Johanneskirchen district of Munich. In 1978 another youth hostel was opened in Nymphenburgerstrasse, which is still in operation today. New professions were gradually introduced in the years that followed. In 2010 a new workshop was opened.

The catchment area of ​​the supraregional facility includes Germany , and the BBW Munich is the only German vocational training center that is also open to hearing-impaired people from Austria and the Italian province of South Tyrol .

education

The Munich Vocational Training Center currently (2016) offers training in a total of 27 professions. This includes the following industries or professions:

  • Agriculture: gardener gardening and landscaping, gardener growing ornamental plants, worker gardening and landscaping, worker growing ornamental plants, worker growing vegetables
  • Nutrition and housekeeping: Specialist in kitchen, specialist in housekeeping, specialist in personal services
  • Color technology and interior design: building and object coaters , painters and varnishers, designers for visual marketing
  • Wood technology: carpenter, woodworking specialist
  • Personal care: hairdresser
  • Printing technology: Machine and system operators, media designers, media technologists for print processing, media technology for printing
  • Metal technology: Specialist practitioner for metal construction, industrial mechanic, vehicle mechatronics technician, machine and system operator, metalworker, specialist in machining mechanics, cutting machine operator
  • Textile technology: fine bag makers
  • Administration: businessman for office management, specialist practitioner for office communication

The training is tailored to the hearing and speech impairment and takes place in small groups. The training is based on orders from private and commercial customers. In addition to the training at the BBW Munich, the trainees complete accompanying internships or interlinked training phases (according to the recognized model "Interlinked training with vocational training centers", VAmB for short) in companies. Another possibility for cooperative training with companies is offered by the TINA model (provider-supported inclusive training), which enables flexible transitions between companies and BBW.

The training takes place according to the dual system on the basis of the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) or the Crafts Code (HwO). In addition to full professions, training is also provided in manual or so-called specialist trades according to special training regulations for people with disabilities (Section 66 BBiG).

An integration management accompanies the graduates in their job after the end of their training. It leads z. B. through application training, prepares for job interviews and helps with job search. It advises employees as well as employers.

professional school

Theoretical training of trainees from the training companies of the BBW took place in the vocational school at the BBW Munich. The lessons at the vocational school consist of subjects of general education and the subject theory of the chosen professional field. The vocational school is also open to external hearing students who are training in a regular company. On request, the Mobile Special Education Service Hearing (MSD-H) visits vocational schools in the administrative districts of Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria and Swabia, where trainees with hearing impairments attend classes and advises on hearing issues.

Specialist services in the BBW

The young people are supported by the specialist service during their stay at the BBW Munich. Funding is based on an individual funding plan that is created for each trainee.

  • Sign language interpreter

Living

Together with the cooperation partner BLWG, the BBW Munich provides young people who do not come from Munich and the surrounding area with various housing options:

  • Accommodation in the boarding school (intensively supported)
  • Apartments (with outpatient care)
  • Shared apartments (largely independently organized)

The various offers differ both in the design of the care and in the intensity of care. Accommodation is usually in a single room.

The vocational training center in Munich, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Upper Bavaria, offers a consulting service for companies with employees with hearing impairments. The Munich vocational training center is a member of the quality community of the seven hearing impaired BBWs. In this context, it is involved in the Fachgebärdenlexikon, an online encyclopedia with specialized signs. The vocational training center is a member of the Bavarian hearing impairment network.
