The management of the agency is the responsibility of the commander and the deputy commander and chief of staff .

coat of arms

The coat of arms operations center IT systems of the Bundeswehr shows a shield in the colors of the Federal Republic of Germany - black, red and gold. This is enclosed by a golden shield frame, from the top two corners of which two lightning bolts, the military symbol for telecommunications, extend across the middle of the shield to the base of the shield. Of the quarters created in this way, the upper and lower shield fields are in red, and the left and right shield fields in black. A black and silver " Iron Cross " is emblazoned in the upper red shield field . In the lower shield field is a stylized gold framed globe on a silver background, which is represented by simple black lines in the form of latitude and longitude.

history

The Bundeswehr's IT system operations center was set up at the beginning of 2013 in the Tomburg barracks at the main Rheinbach site. It was carried out through the organic merging of various groups and departments of the previous command support department (G 6) of the disbanded Armed Forces Support Command and through the structural transfer of existing parts of Command Support Regiment 28 and the Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr . BITS has been part of the Cyber and Information Space (OrgBer CIR) organizational area since July 1, 2017 . The BITS reports directly to the KdoITBw in Bonn.
