Bettina Eistel (born May 7, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German dressage rider in equestrian sports for the disabled , moderator and author .

Biographical

Bettina Eistel came in 1961 as a result of thalidomide -Schädigung without arms to the world. She graduated from high school in 1979 and initially studied art history, archeology and ethnology in Hamburg from 1980 to 1981, followed by an eight-year course in psychology. During her psychology studies, she participated as a thalidomide-damaged athlete from 1985 to 1989 in a riding project with children from the home in Hamburg. In 1989 she finished her studies with a diploma and since then has been working as a psychologist in a Hamburg counseling center for child and family therapy.

Between 1991 and 1994 she had attended elementary schools all over Germany in order - together with a partner - to present children's theater productions (such as “ Peter and the Wolf ”) using her puppet theater “The 7 Ravens” . In the period from 2002 to 2005 Eistel was able to distinguish himself in equestrian sports for the disabled and win several prizes. She had held the reins of her horse with her mouth. Your coach and sponsor for many years was then national coach Franz-Martin Stankus.

From July 2005, Eistel presented summer reports for the ZDF television program Menschen - the magazine . From July 7, 2007 to July 26, 2014, she was the presenter of this twelve-minute series, which is broadcast on Saturday afternoons and reports on topics from Aktion Mensch . Sandra Olbrich has been moderating the magazine since September 6, 2014 .

Sporting successes

Eistel has been Vice European and Vice World Champion in dressage for riders with disabilities (two silver and bronze medals at the European Championships in Portugal 2002, and three silver medals at the World Championships in Belgium 2003) and won two silver and one bronze medal at the Paralympics 2004 in Athens ; she also won the German championship three times. The bronze medal in the compulsory individual classification at the Paralympics 2008 in Hong Kong is the last success to date .

In 2005 she was awarded the Schleswig-Holstein sports badge. In the same year she was also named "Sportswoman of the Year in Schleswig-Holstein". For this she received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Horst Köhler in 2008 .
