Betty Poison (formerly: Betty Ford Center ) are a rock band founded in Italy in 2005 and based in Berlin since 2012 .

history

Betty Poison was founded in 2005 under the band name Betty Ford Center . The group named itself accordingly after the well-known drug and alcohol rehab clinic of the same name in Rancho Mirage , California . Since it was feared that legal problems would arise with the real clinic and that some YouTube videos and the former MySpace page were deleted for this very reason, the name was changed to Betty Poison.

In 2008 their debut EP Uncool was released on Fastermaster Records. In 2009 the first album Poison for You was released .

In 2010 she played in Rome and Milan as the opening act of Hole and Courtney Love . In 2011 the second album Beauty Is Over was released . The song Time from the second album was used in New York City for a performance by Anton Perich , Andy Warhol's longtime photographer . The band played, among other things, a US tour.

In 2015 the EP Jøy was released .

Music genre

Betty Poison's band members drew their influences from various subgenres of the 1980s and 1990s rock scene, particularly noise rock and grunge. Hole and L7 are considered a big influence. For a while they described their music as "vaginal rock", but got away from it. In contrast to many other bands, the music is carried by two guitars and does not have a bass guitar . On the studio album Beauty Is Over , however, Annika Kreusch from the Belgian band Pandora played the bass guitar for some songs.
