Between the Times
Between the Times is a German jazz ensemble from Heidelberg , which specializes in improvisations and new compositions based on ancient melodies - for example lute music of the 17th century. Johannes Vogt ( guitar , lute ) and Knut Rössler ( saxophone ) cooperate with instrumentalists such as Mani Neumeier ( drums ) and Miroslav Vitouš ( bass ), but also with vocalists such as the baroque singer Ute Kreidler. In the past, the ensemble sometimes chose very unusual recording locations for its CDs, such as an empty grain silo or the Castel del Monte in Apulia. Therefore, some of their recordings are characterized by very characteristic reverb properties.
Her fourth CD Between The Times was awarded Record of the Year in 2007 by the British magazine HIFI + and praised by The Times , Financial Times , Jazzpodium , Stereoplay and The Independent On Sunday . About your fifth CD Octagon the verdict cultural mirror : "Incredibly impressive to create something new out of old music and jazz - this could be Europe's contribution to the development of jazz."
