The Monfalcone District ( Tržič in Slovenian ) was a political district in the Prince-owned County of Gorizia and Gradisca . The district based in Monfalcone comprised areas in the former provinces of Udine and Gorizia in Friuli and became part of Italy after the First World War .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

Originally the later district of Monfalcone was part of the Gradisca district, which was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Cervignano , Cormons , Gradisca and Monfalcone .

Only later were the judicial districts of Cervignano and Monfalcone separated from the Gradisca district, after which they formed the Monfalcone district from January 1, 1911. In 1880, 38,697 people lived in the two judicial districts that were combined to form the Monfalcone district in 1911.

The later district of Monfalcone covered an area of ​​433.57 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 53,038 people. Of the inhabitants, 45,935 indicated Italian as a colloquial language. Furthermore, 235 German speakers, 1,693 Slovene speakers and 5,175 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 25 parishes belonged to the district.

The Monfalcone district became part of Italy after the First World War .
