District City of St. Gallen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district town of St. Gallen was since the creation of the Canton of St. Gallen in the year 1803-1918 an administrative unit of the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland .

Between 1803 and 1831 the canton's districts were divided into districts. The city district of St. Gallen was the only district that had no districts. The city district of St. Gallen consisted only of the city of St. Gallen without the municipalities of Straubenzell and Tablat, which were later incorporated as part of the city merger in 1918 .

When the towns were merged on June 30, 1918, the communities Tablat and Straubenzell ( Gossau district ) became part of the city of St. Gallen and the Tablat district was integrated into the new St. Gallen district .
