District office tower ín Pforzheim

The district office tower in Pforzheim , a city in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built from 1901 to 1903. The tower at Bahnhofstrasse 22/24 is a protected cultural monument .

The 42 meter high clock tower made of red sandstone was built as part of the Baden-Grand-Ducal District Office according to plans by the architect and district building inspector Emil Lang from Bruchsal . At the tower entrance, the year of construction is given as 1902, combined with the coats of arms of Pforzheim and Baden . On February 23, 1945, the tower was badly damaged in a bomb attack and after the war in 1948/49 it was rebuilt by the Pforzheim State Building Authority according to plans by Heinrich Gremmelspacher (1910–1990).

The tower was provided with a copper helmet in 1961/62 without the original gable .

The colored Art Nouveau murals with two figurative scenes of medieval life and the signs of the zodiac on the dials were originally created by the Karlsruhe artist Hellmut Eichrodt (1872–1943).

The hall-like staircase has groin vaults and tracery parapets in the neo-Gothic style . The lead glass windows on three floors with motifs from the city's history were created in 1950.
