The Kaunas District Court (lit. Kauno apygardos teismas ) is the second largest of the five Apygardos teismas in Lithuania and one of two district courts in Kaunas , in addition to the Kaunas District Administrative Court , in the second largest Lithuanian city.

history

The Kaunas District Court was mentioned on November 26, 1883 as a court in the Russian Empire in the Kovno Governorate . On December 15, 1918, the Kaunas District Court of Lithuania was established. The first Lithuanian court to operate from December 1918. It worked until 1940 (until the Soviet occupation). Instead, there was a district people's court in Soviet Lithuania .
