Bhairon Singh Shekhawat
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat (born October 23, 1923 in Sikar , † May 15, 2010 in Jaipur ) was an Indian politician ( BJP ). He was the 11th Vice President of India from August 19, 2002 to July 21, 2007 under President APJ Abdul Kalam .
Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party , the leading member party of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In the presidential election on July 19, 2007 , he ran as an NDA candidate. However, he was defeated by his rival candidate Pratibha Patil .
He was Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992 and 1993 to 1998.
