Bichmezzin ( Arabic بشمزين), also Bishmizzine, Bishmezzine, Bechmezzine, Beshmizzine, Bishmezzine is a village in the Koura district in northern Lebanon .

history

Under the crusaders the place was called Besmedin in the 13th century . It was on the road between Batrun and Tripoli .

From 1220 Besmedin is documented as the seat of an independent lordship as a fief of the Count of Tripoli , which was given to a branch line of the Lords of Gibelet . The crusaders probably built a castle or a fortified mansion in Besmedin, but no traces of such have survived today. In 1289, when Tripoli was conquered by the Mamluks , the crusaders also evacuated Besmedin.
