North Lebanon ( Arabic الشمال asch-Shamal , DMG aš-Šamāl , French Leban-Nord ) is one of the eight governorates of Lebanon . The administrative seat is Tripoli . The governorate has an area of 2024.8 square kilometers with 768,709 inhabitants in 2004, of which around 44 percent are Christians.
