The Biettihütte (ital. Rifugio Bietti-Buzzi ) is a mountain hut in the municipality of Mandello del Lario in the Lombard Prealps at an altitude of 1719 m slm
history
The hut was opened in 1886 as the Releccio hut. At that time it was a one-story building located in the Releccio valley of the same name, near the Grigna Settentrionale (northern summit, also called Grignone) 2403 m slm , under the ridge of the Piancaformia. It was later renamed after Louis Bietti, the former president of the Milan section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI).
In 2002 the hut had to be closed due to lack of money. In 2006 Elena Buzzi bought the hut and donated it to the CAI Mandello section. 2006–2009 it was subjected to a comprehensive overhaul and received a water tank (lack of water due to limestone) and a winter room.
Approaches
From the Cainallopass (parking lot in Val di Cino or at Vo 'del Moncodeno) the hut can be reached in 1½ hours on path 24 via the "Gate of Prada" (Porta Prada). From Somana, a fraction of Mandello del Lario, on route 15 in about 3½ hours.
Climbing summit
At the Grigna Settentrionale, via the "via del Caminetto" or "via del Guzzi", via the via ferrata "Ferrata dei Carbonari", or via the Canalone climbing route (not secured). The hut is the starting point for climbing the Balconata (gallery) des Releccio, Pizzo Nibbi, Sasso Cavallo, Sasso Seneg, Sasso dei Carbonari.
Circuits and transitions
The tour begins at the Cainallopass (Vò di Moncodeno car park) 1440 m slm (path 24) and leads past the chapel of the 89th Garibaldi Brigade to the gate of Prada (Bocchetta-Porta di Prada) 1626 m slm , then under the ridge of the Piancaformia (North side of the Grigna Settentrionale ) along to the Biettihütte and back just before the Porta di Prada over the Bocchetta di Piancaformia 1805 m slm (path 19) down to the Boganihütte and on (path 25) to the Cainallopass.
The neighboring Brioschihütte 2403 m slm on the summit of the Grigna Settentrionale can be reached via the Boganihütte (path 25), via the Bocchetta del Guzzi 2168 m slm (path 28) or the Ferrata dei Carbonari via ferrata . The Bietti Hut is the stage of the “Trofeo Scaccabarozzi” mountain run on the Sentiero delle Grigne over the two Grigna peaks.
